Duration: Summer Term June 22 - August 30th (with the possibility of continuing for a second term if both parties agree)
About the Position
The Pacific Northwest Forest Climate Alliance is seeking a Communications Fellow to help develop and implement new communications tools that make it easier for Alliance members to share and amplify events, actions, and resources across the region. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or emerging communicator to gain hands-on experience in climate and forest justice work, nonprofit communications, and movement-building strategies.
This fellowship is eligible for school credit, and may be renewed for an additional term, dependent on interest and performance.
Hours
10–15 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
1. Curate and Send Regular Alliance Newsletter
Continue to publish a twice per month newsletter for Alliance members.
Source content from Alliance members and through research; manage the submission process.
Draft, format, and edit newsletters in collaboration with the Alliance Organizer and Steering Committee.
Sync newsletter content with the Alliance website and social media channels.
2. Create & Maintain “Events/Actions” Webpage
Regularly update a new events/action page on the Alliance’s Squarespace website.
Coordinate webpage content with newsletter and social media posts.
3. Update and Maintain the Online Resource Library
Track resource submissions from Alliance members.
Upload new materials to the WordPress-based resource library.
Write clear, concise descriptions for new resources.
4. Participate in the Communications Working Group, All-Member Alliance Meetings, and Events as Needed
Attend & participate in monthly Communications Working Group Zoom meetings.
Attend & participate in every-other-month all-member Alliance Zoom meetings
Provide occasional assistance with special events including tabling, outreach and taking photographs for media
5. Support & Creation for Social Media
Post or share relevant content on the Alliance’s Instagram and Facebook channels.
Create social media content, such as carousel posts or Reels, as needed for relevant events or needs.
Amplify member events and actions in alignment with the newsletter and events page.
Monitor and reply to conversation/interaction by handling online inquiries appropriately.

Comfort working in collaborative and decentralized movement spaces
