The Fix Our Forests Act views fire primarily as a problem that begins and ends with more logging. This bill hands the keys to our public lands over to the Trump administration, which is actively working to radically increase commercial logging. Instead of supporting scientific analyses, transparency and accountability, FOFA curtails public input, limits judicial review and weakens bedrock environmental and wildlife laws.
The advocacy of everyday people is the reason there are still mature and old-growth forests for future generations to enjoy. FOFA would allow logging projects as large as 15 square miles — the size of the entire city of Corvallis — to proceed without important environmental analysis and community input. That’s why climate and forest watch groups across the state and country are opposing this bill, including the Sierra Club and Earthjustice.

The bill shortens the judicial review window on forest logging projects, which places an unfair burden on frontline communities and Tribes who deserve equal say in how their public lands are managed.
